Literally ...

I've been without my near-sighted glasses - yes I'm blind as a bat, I can't see near (or far) which makes painting basically impossible! - for weeks on end. I'd had no luck fixing them, for the major fact that I can't see the teeny-tiny screw holding the lens in place and it's been forever - or so it seems - since we've had the opportunity to drive into the 'big city' to get them fixed. And nope, we still haven't gone anywhere near a place to get them fixed so cussing up a storm I managed to maneuver a wire through the holes while squinting my eyes to absolute tears and achieving a headache from hell, twisting the wire with a needle-nose pliers, still barely able to see what I was doing and after about 30+ minutes, I can see again. I'm still nursing a terrible headache, but sight should now help that subside a bit quicker!

I actually just finished doing it and now I'm happy as a pig rolling in the mud - sorry, I've been living in the South so long now that the colloquialisms have embedded themselves in my daily speech - but I'm HAPPY! I can see! I can paint! I can sew! I can see the bloody computer screen!!

And now I'm going to go off and have myself a nice bowl of chili and rice (a local Hawaiian favorite - can't ditch my roots completely!) and settle in with the dropping temperature from the 60s (F) to the 30s and then on colder then that soon after.

Hit that DVD player dear, I'm in the mood for some Dr. Who!!!
